Tajikistan Tour 7

Day 1: Dushanbe - Hissor - Dushanbe
We are happy to see you in Tajikistan. Today we will drive 35 km to visit Hisor fortress of VII-XVII centuries which is used to be fortress of the residence of the delegate of the Emir of Bukhara situated on a high hill and was well defended with 1 m thick walls. In past times there was a pool and a garden and across from the fortress there was a busy market square with a caravan serai and shops. In Hisar travelers will see the recently restored monuments of "Madrasa I Kuhna" of 16th-17th centuries, mosque; the mausoleum of "Mahdumi Azam" of 16th century. When we drive back to Dushanbe you will visit Botanical garden and Victory Park and admire panorama view. Transfer to a hotel.

Day 2: Dushanbe - Norak - Kalai Khum
This tour will start by driving to Kalai Khum village. On the way you will admire Norak water reservoir or Tajik Sea. We will pass over Shuraba pass (2 267 m) and drive along Afghanistan border starts belonging to the Territory of Pamir Mountains inspired the world's greatest explorers as Marco Polo, Hsuan Tsang, Mirza Muhammad Haidar. Then we will drive along natural border as Pyanj River and admire the giant mountain system the ocean of white and blue mountains. Night is in a homestay.

Day 3: Kalai Khum - Khorog
In the morning we will travel to Khorog surrounded by rocky mountains from all four sides. It was built on the confluence of the 3 rivers where Shokhdara river and Ghund river flow into Pyanj river. On the way to Khorog you will see Pamir people with a high percentage of people with blonde hair, fair skin and blue eyes. Pamirs Mountains are the highest mountains in the world with human population after the Himalayas in Tibet. Night is in a guesthouse.

Day 4: Khorog - Ishkashim
Today you will drive to the small village of Ishkashim. It is considered to be the capital of Ishkoshim District in Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Province in south-east of the country. It located on the Panj River. The Panj River is a tributary of the Amu Darya which is 1 125 km long and forms a extensive part of the Afghanistan and Tajikistan border. The village of Ishkoshim is placed opposite a town of the same name in Afghanistan, though the name of the Afghan town is transcribed Ishkashim following Persian practice. Overnight is in a home stay.

Day 5: Ishkashim - Yashil Kul Lake - Bulunkul Lake
Today you will see the most beautiful lakes of the Pamirs are Yashil Kul and Bulunkul (Blue lakes), located on the altitude of 3 700 meters above sea level, are situated in the Murghab district. The color of water in Bulunkul is a violet and dark-blue with abundance of fish in the lake. Travelers will see yaks producing milk and meat products. On the way to the lake you will drive over Koitezak pass (4 271 m). Night is in a homestay.

Day 6: Bulunkul - Khorog
In the morning we will drive to Khorog along Pamir Highway or M41 Pamir Tract. It is defined to be the second highest mountain road after main road of Tibet. The road lies over mountains and passes on the elevations of more than 4 000 meters above sea level. Here you will drive over Koitezak pass (4 271 m) and admire the unique diversity of wildlife where you can see wild mammals are Turkestan rat, tiger-cat, grizzly bear, badger, stoat, fox, grey and red wolves as well as a thriving population of Marco Polo sheep and snow leopard. Night is in a guesthouse.

Day 7: Khorog - Kalai Khum
On this tour we will travel from Khorog to Kalai Khum where we can admire the high rocky mountains of over 6 000 meters. Driving though the Pamirs, travelers have the rare opportunity to not only marvel the beauty of virgin environment, but also learn more about ethnography, history how the history of humanity changed as in the story of creation. On the way we will stop in small villages to talk with local people and to see their lifestyle. Then you will see Afgan stony villages and gardens. Night is in a homestay.

Day 8: Kalai Khum - Khoburubot - Dushanbe
The morning will start by travelling to Dushanbe via mountain road over high Khoburubot Pass (3 252) known as Western Pamir Tract. The way goes from side to side the most attractive river valley and astonishing gorges in the terrain full of mountains and rivers. Here we will see small villages and meet local people. They are hospitable and kind-hearted. We have no doubt you will like to see the beauty of wild nature. Night is in a hotel.

Day 9: Flight
In the morning is transfer to airport.
